Call for Special Issue proposals for Human Resource Management

Dear colleagues

Human Resource Management cordially invites proposals for special issues (SIs) that capture cutting-edge research insights and trends in the field of human resource management (HRM) that have significant theoretical and practical implications. Human Resource Management is one of the Financial Times top 50 business journals with a 2018 impact factor of 2.934, 75/217 (Management), 19/82 (Psychology, Applied). Covering the broad spectrum of contemporary HRM issues, Human Resource Management provides academics and practitioners with the latest concepts, tools, and information for effective problem solving and decision making in this field. Broad in scope, it explores issues of societal, organizational, and individual relevance. Journal articles discuss new findings, new theories, new techniques, case studies, models, and research trends of particular significance to practicing HR managers.

An SI proposal should include the following elements:

1.       Proposed SI title

2.       Information about each of the proposed guest editors (names, titles, affiliations and email addresses)

3.       A short bio (approx. 150 words) about each of the proposed guest editors

4.       Rationale and objectives of the SI

5.       A statement of potential theoretical advancement and practical significance of the SI

6.       Key themes/scope of focus of the SI

7.       A statement of how and where the Call for Papers will be advertised to generate interest and attract high quality submissions globally (e.g. which distribution lists, networks or associations)

8.       A list of potential established scholars to be targeted for quality submissions

9.       Proposed submission date

10.   Reference list

Proposals should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief of Human Resource Management Ryan D. Zimmerman: [log in to unmask] and Associate Editor for Special Issues Fang Lee Cooke: [log in to unmask] by 15th December 2019. When submitting proposals, please include in the email subject line: ‘HRM Special Issue Proposal’.

All proposals will be reviewed by members of the editorial team and assessed based on the quality of the likely contributions and their relevance to the mission and scope of Human Resource Management. Decisions will be conveyed to the SI proposers approximately 4 weeks after the submission deadline. It is the Human Resource Management policy that an Associate Editor will work with the guest editorial team as one of the guest editors for each SI to ensure consistency of Human Resource Management standard and practice.

All papers for the SI will be subject to the same double blind peer review process as regular issues of Human Resource Management and accepted papers must meet the editorial standards of Human Resource Management. Papers should be prepared and submitted according to the journal’s guidelines: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/1099050x/homepage/forauthors.html.

The publication date will be allocated once all the papers for the SI have been accepted.

Best regards
