Globalization has increased the ebb and flow of products, capital, employees, and information. However, these flows have been interrupted by the recent waves of nationalistic,
xenophobic, and anti-globalist movements of all stripes (Ghemawat, 2016). Populist governments have risen in various parts of Europe, the Americas and Asia and have led to renewed trade and geopolitical tensions along the East-West and South-North axes.
Thus, we believe that examination of the links between environmental condition, such as protectionism, tariffs, immigration policies, censorship, surveillance, trade and investment
agreements, convertibility restrictions and trade wars, institutions and the multinational enterprise is very timely in the International Business domain.
Recent shifts towards the more protectionist and nationalistic policies in the political terrain of the two major energy importing and consuming nations on both sides of the
Pacific are set to pose existential concerns and questions for policymakers (Aidelojie, 2019).
We welcome submissions addressing the following issues (but not to the exclusion of other topics related to the theme of the call for papers):
These issues are not meant to be exhaustive but illustrative of possible topics. We especially welcome submissions from researchers in IB. We welcome submissions aimed
at theory development and empirical investigation of theoretically-grounded research questions. Empirical investigations may be quantitative, qualitative, or a mix of both approaches. We seek a broad range of manuscripts addressing protectionism-related
issues promising novel contributions to international business realm.Submission InformationAll papers will be subject to double blind peer review. Authors should follow MIR guidelines: https://www.springer.com/journal/11575Contributions

The Marketisation of Higher Education:
Policies, Practices, and Perspectives
Publisher: Palgrave Macmillan
Editors:
Bryan Christiansen (Global Training Group, Ltd., United Kingdom)
John Branch (University of Michigan, USA)
In recent years, higher education has operated more and more like a traditional market, with universities (and similar providers of higher education) competing like any other ‘economic actor’. This marketisation of higher education reflects a paradigmatic shift from a government-controlled system of higher education in which higher education is for the public good, to a market-based system of higher education in which higher education is a good for the public. Indeed, it suggests a kind of commodification in higher education.
Consequently, universities have been forced to consider that higher education is a product which can be packaged and sold—that universities must ‘take their wares’ to market. Indeed, adopting the simple and pithy definition that marketing is “to go to market”, universities are now more and more engaged in marketing…and all its associated activities, such as segmentation, targeting, positioning, branding, pricing, promotion, and even exporting.
The purpose of this proposed book, therefore, is to explore the nature, scope ,and consequences of the marketisation of higher education, by 1. enumerating the various policies for stimulating and regulating the marketisation of higher education, 2. identifying the numerous practices which constitute the marketisation of higher education, and 3. discussing the different perspectives on the marketisation of higher education. The proposed book takes a global perspective, with no single geographic focus. Similarly, it adopts a holistic approach, examining the marketisation of higher education along multiple dimensions, and subscribing to the notion that the marketisation of higher education both drives, and is driven by, the universities of which the higher education market is comprised.
The primary targets of the proposed book are scholars, students, and other researchers whose interests are situated in and around the marketisation of higher education, including the marketing of higher education and its associated activities. The proposed book will also serve practitioners and policy-makers in higher education.

July 2-3, 2020 – Miami, Florida
Submission Deadline: December 15, 2019
Program Chair: YUHEE JUNG, Gakushuin University
AJBS will hold its 33rd Annual Meeting in cooperation with the Academy of International Business (AIB) in Miami, Florida. The combined conference will run from July 2nd through July 6th. The AJBS conference is July 2-3 and the AIB conference is July 2-6, 2020. The Program Chair for this year’s conference is Yuhee Jung, from Gakushuin University, Tokyo, Japan.
About AJBS: From its genesis as an informal network in 1982, AJBS was officially organized and held its first conference at the Wharton Business School in January, 1987. AJBS holds annual conferences at venues throughout the world, providing an opportunity for discussion of current developments and research on a range of business, public policy and teaching issues related to Japan. Papers for AJBS conference presentation are double blind peer reviewed. Accepted papers are considered for publication in the journal, Asian Business & Management (ABM). AJBS welcomes scholars, students and practitioners from all disciplinary backgrounds who are interested in Japanese business issues.
Why should you participate in both (AJBS and AIB) conferences? With one trip, you can attend both the most prestigious professional meeting in international business and an intimate conference that focuses specifically on Japanese business issues. The AJBS conference provides additional opportunities for journal publication and best paper awards, as detailed below.
Submission types: AJBS welcomes papers and panel proposals. Earlier stage papers may be submitted for inclusion in interactive sessions. Later stage, fully developed papers should be submitted for competitive sessions. Please note that final assignment to interactive or competitive sessions depends on reviewer inputs and other considerations.
Authors may submit papers to either or both conferences. AJBS will consider submissions that have already been presented elsewhere, but not published in a journal or book. Authors are encouraged to consider submitting a paper tailored to the specialized audience at the AJBS conference as well as a modified version appropriate for a wider audience at AIB. As done in past years, we also plan to have one session run by AJBS at the AIB conference.
Panel proposals are also welcomed. Panels should be focused upon topics relevant to Japanese business. Also included in the topics welcomed are those relating to what the rest of the world can learn from Japanese business. The panelists must have relevant expertise or background to inform the proposed topic. Panel proposals should include the names and affiliation of the panelists, a brief bio for each panelist, a description of the purpose of the panel, and an overview of the topics to be addressed. Panel submissions are not blind.
Submission Deadline: Sunday, December 15, 2019. Please submit your paper or panel proposal via the AJBS online submission system (https://meetings.aib.msu.edu/ajbs/2020/).
We kindly ask you to upload your paper in MS-Word format. Submissions must be on letter paper (8.5"x11" or 216x279 mm), with double-spaced text and a font size of 11 points or larger.
For papers, please follow the JIBS style guide (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jibs/style_guide.html).
Please submit papers in MS-Word format (if MS-Word format is not available, please use a basic text format that can be easily converted to MS-Word. Please do not submit papers in PDF format.). To facilitate the blind review process, remove ALL author-identifying information from the papers. Papers will be double-blind reviewed, with the conference papers selected and authors notified by late February, 2020.
Conference Registration: Registration for the conference is handled through AIB and registration for AIB and AJBS can be done at one time. Membership is required in both AIB and AJBS, but AJBS membership includes a one-year subscription to Asian Business & Management.
Asian Business & Management: In 2003 AJBS established a partnership with the journal Asian Business & Management (ABM), published by Palgrave Macmillan in the U.K. As in recent years, the editor of ABM, together with the AJBS conference committee, will select several papers from this year's conference program to be considered for publication in ABM.
Palgrave Macmillan – AJBS Best Paper Award: Palgrave Macmillan has sponsored a ‘Best Paper’ prize at the annual AJBS meetings. The Best Paper Committee will review the finalist papers and select the winning paper.
For further information: Information on Miami, Florida, the meeting venue and AIB conference is available at https://www.aib.world/events/2020-miami/.

JIBP PDW - CALL FOR PAPERS
Submission Deadline: January 15, 2020
The Journal of International Business Policy (JIBP) will hold its third annual Paper Development Workshop (PDW) in Miami from 8:30am-1:30pm on Friday, July 3, 2020, as part of the pre-conference program for the AIB Annual Meeting. The PDW provides participants an excellent opportunity to interact and receive constructive feedback from Sarianna Lundan (editor-in-chief), Ari Van Assche (deputy editor), as well as several JIBP Editors and Editorial Review Board Members.
JIBP is the sister journal to the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) published by Springer and the Academy of International Business (www.jibp.net). Positioned at the intersection between international business and public policy, JIBP publishes articles that identify novel policy issues and dilemmas related to international business. These include but are not limited to policies for:
The purpose of the PDW is two-fold. First, we aim to provide participants insights into the actionable steps they should take to make their research more relevant for policy makers. Second, we provide scholars with developmental feedback on their current research projects related to IB policy. While we hope that the papers will eventually be submitted to JIBP, the purpose of the PDW is broader, namely to improve the quality of IB research, to help translate IB research into policy ideas, and to bring new scholars into the IB policy field.
The PDW will consist of two parts. First, a 90-minute introductory session (8:30am–10:00am) led by Sarianna Lundan (editor-in-chief) and Ari Van Assche (deputy editor) will discuss the manuscript review process, provide pointers on how to steer a policy turn in international business research, and touch on various other topics relevant to authors seeking to publish in JIBP. Second, during a 120-minute main session (10:30am-12:30pm), groups of authors (with substantively related papers) will be paired with two JIBP Editors/ERB members for constructive feedback. The lunch break (12:30pm-1:30pm) provides an excellent opportunity for scholars to have individual discussions with JIBP's editorial team.
To participate in the JIBP PDW, we invite scholars to upload (1) paper proposals (max. 4000 words) or (2) full papers (max. 10,000 words) through the JIBP Paper Development Workshop Submission System located at https://meetings.aib.msu.edu/jibp/2020/. It is important to highlight at the top of the title page to which track you are submitting. Authors of accepted full papers will have the occasion to receive detailed comments on their manuscript from two members of our editorial team. Authors of accepted paper proposals will have the chance to discuss their research ideas with editorial team experts.
The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2020, in the authors' time zone. All submitted papers and proposals must follow the JIBP Style Guide, which are available at www.jibp.net.
Submitting authors will be notified of the results of the review process by March 1, 2020, and will need to confirm their participation in the PDW by March 15, 2020.
Please note that authors will need to register for the AIB conference in order to participate in the JIBP PDW. Also note that the Junior Faculty Consortium, the Doctoral Consortium, and the JIBS PDW run in parallel with the JIBP PDW. It will therefore not be possible to participate in the JIBP PDW if participating in any of the other aforementioned events.
Please address any questions about the JIBP PDW to: Ari Van Assche ([log in to unmask]).

CALL FOR PAPERS
Seventeenth Annual JIBS Paper Development Workshop
Academy of International Business Annual Meeting
Miami, Florida, USA
Friday, July 3, 2020
The seventeenth Annual Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) Paper Development Workshop (PDW) will be held in Miami, Florida, USA from 8:30am–1:30pm on Friday, July 3, 2020, as part of the pre-conference program for the Academy of International Business (AIB) annual meeting. The PDW is the most extensive of the various JIBS outreach activities conducted by the JIBS editorial team. Organized by Alain Verbeke (JIBS EIC) and Stav Fainshmidt (Florida International University), the PDW involves several JIBS Editors and Editorial Review Board (ERB) Members, and is sponsored by the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University and by Henley Business School at the University of Reading.
The purpose of the PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their current research papers in IB studies. While we hope that many of these papers will eventually be submitted to JIBS, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve the quality of IB research and to bring new scholars successfully into the IB field. We invite original papers from junior scholars who have not previously published in JIBS. In particular, we hope to attract papers from scholars who are located in universities in emerging and developing economies.
The PDW will be structured to provide extensive feedback to authors whose research papers have been accepted by the workshop organizers. The program will have three components. First, a 90-minute introductory session (8:30am–10:00am) led by members of the JIBS editorial team will discuss the manuscript review process and various topics relevant to authors seeking to publish in JIBS or other outlets in the ecosystem of IB journals. Second, during a 90-minute main session (10:15am–11:45pm), groups of two authors (with substantively related papers) will be paired with groups of two JIBS Editors/ERB Members, whereby each individual paper will receive attention from each paired Editor/ERB Member for two times thirty minutes. The main focus will be on how to improve the papers discussed, so as to increase the probability of acceptance by a journal in the ecosystem of IB journals. Third, during lunch-time (12:00pm–1:30pm), several Editors/ERB Members will provide insight into their personal publication strategies and pathways for sustained, successful publishing.
Only a limited number of manuscripts will be accepted for the PDW. Papers should be submitted through the JIBS Workshop Submission System located at https://meetings.aib.msu.edu/jibs/2020/. Please note that each applicant should submit only one paper. The deadline for submissions is January 3rd, 2020, in the authors’ time zone. Submitted papers must be less than 10,000 words in length, and follow the JIBS Style Guide (http://www.palgrave.com/gp/journal/41267/authors/presentation-formatting).
Submitting authors will be notified of the results of the review process by March 1st, 2020, and will need to confirm their participation in the PDW by March 15th, 2020.
Please note that authors will need to register for the AIB conference in order to participate in the JIBS PDW. Also note that the Junior Faculty Consortium and the Doctoral Consortium run in parallel with the JIBS PDW. It will therefore not be possible to participate in the JIBS PDW if participating in any of the other aforementioned events.

Dear Colleagues,
As a Guest Editor, I would like to invite you to submit articles
for publication in a Special Issue of Education Sciences (ISSN 2227-7102, indexed in Web of Science and Scopus) that will focus on entrepreneurship education. We are looking for both empirical research and conceptual articles that will
deal with experiences from different countries and the challenges facing entrepreneurship education.
Entrepreneurship is an extremely popular concept in the social and scientific discourse in recent years. Therefore, there are more and more types of "entrepreneurial" projects or strategies and programs aimed at its development.
This is due to the fact that its role is widely recognized in the private life of people and the development of society, as well as the functioning of the economy and its entities. Therefore, entrepreneurship education is perceived as a very important factor
influencing the dynamics of socio-economic development. Hence, in many countries, especially in Europe, entrepreneurship is treated as a key competence of educational systems.
Due to the fact that entrepreneurship is an ambiguous concept, variously defined on the basis of individual scientific disciplines, the starting point should be defining entrepreneurship for educational purposes and indicating
competencies that fall within the scope of entrepreneurship. A recent, comprehensive conceptual proposal in this field is the study by S. Mitchelmore and J. Rowley (2010). However, different approaches to entrepreneurship in education are adopted in individual
countries. The position and place of entrepreneurship varies in different education systems. The expected learning outcomes and the choice of teaching content and methods are also diversified. In addition, program reforms in this area are being carried out
in many countries. Changes in this area are often a big challenge for all stakeholders of the education process. Therefore, it is important to exchange research results on the effects of entrepreneurship education at different levels, from kindergarten through
primary and secondary school to the university. This can determine the best way to develop entrepreneurship education, which is of great application importance.
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 31 January 2020
Special Issue Information: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/education/special_issues/entrepreneur
If you think you are interested and able to contribute to this Special Issue, please respond within two weeks and also include a brief description and title of your article.
Thank you for your consideration of this invitation.
Kind regards,
Tomasz Rachwa

International Case Studies in the Management of Disasters
Editors
Babu George, PhD, Fort Hays State University, USA
Qamaruddin Mahar, PhD, Isra University, Pakistan
Brief summary: This book will present a diverse range of case studies on how disasters, both natural and manmade, are managed in different parts of the world.
Subject / Topic Description: Disaster management has become a major topic of discussion, given the increasing incidents of different kinds of disasters around the world. Greater investments are made in disaster preparedness and in disaster recovery. Best practice case studies are especially being sought out by disaster management practitioners as well as scholarly researchers.
Full book description: According to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, disaster refers to a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society at any scale due to hazardous events interacting with conditions of exposure, vulnerability and capacity, leading to one or more of the following: human, material, economic and environmental losses and impacts. The scholarly community has studied disasters from various perspectives and we now have a rich knowledge field of disaster management comprised of theories, models, and frameworks. However, what is less clear is how all these apply to specific disaster contexts. In this regard, situationally bound and nuance filled case studies, particularly those conducted in the aftermath of dealing with disasters, assume importance. There is a dearth of books meeting this need for the scholarly and practitioner communities.
Discipline, sub discipline, and keywords: Business, Economics, Environment, Ecology, Economics, Tourism, Geology, Culture, Disasters, Technology, Community Development, Policy, among others.
Interdisciplinarity: Disaster management, in its theory and practice, involves theoreticians and practitioners coming from different academic streams and professional practice areas. This includes sociologists, economics, psychologists, geologists, ecologists, technocrats, and business management consultants, among others. The editors are keen to support interdisciplinary research in disaster management, where this is relevant. The proposed book is going to be significantly interdisciplinary in nature, with management studies as the interlinking element.
Impact: Wherever appropriate, we are committed to helping scholars achieve real world impact with their work. Thus, case studies with immediate practical applications are particularly welcome.
Tentative Table of contents:
The book will showcase 15 - 20 internationally sourced case studies on disaster management. There will be at least one case study related to a type of disaster. The case studies will comprehensively touch upon every aspect of the disaster management cycle. Both successful and failed disaster management practices are welcome.
The editors are seeking high-quality manuscripts on some of the below-mentioned themes from research scholars and disaster management practitioners from around the world.
