Open Rank Position(s) in International Business and/or Strategic Management
 
Renmin University of China Business School (RMBS), invites applications for up to two open-rank (assistant, associate, and full professors) tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in the area of International Business, and Strategic Management, and closely related disciplines.
 
QualificationsCandidates applying for the assistant professor position must have an earned doctorate degree in International Business, Strategic Management or closely related disciplines from a AACSB/EQUIS accredited school or equivalently high ranking school before appointment date. Candidates must provide concrete evidence of research publication or potential for publication in the very top tier journals of the field (i.e. UTD 24 and FT 50). Candidates also should provide evidence of or demonstrate the ability in teaching excellence to a diverse group of students in English.
 
Candidates applying for the position of associate or full professor must have an excellent track record of publications in top tier journals (UTD 24 and FT 50). Experience in the industry and consulting is a plus. In addition, applicants for these senior positions should demonstrate evidence of and willingness to work with and supervise PhD student to help them with research and ultimately publication in internationally recognized journals. Senior position candidates are also expected to demonstrate ability to work in a collegial atmosphere and have a track record of serving on different committees.  
 
ResponsibilitiesThe appointee(s) will be expected to maintain active research agenda as demonstrated by publication in the top most journals of the field (UTD 24 and FT 50).


The successful candidate is also expected to teach and supervise students at various levels including undergraduate, master’s (including MBA and EMBA), and PhD in English. Ability to teach in Chinese, in addition to English, is desired, but not required.


The appointee, specifically to a senior position, is also expected to provide services such as serving on committees to the School and occasionally to the University and work closely with master’s and PhD students.
 
The compensation packageThe compensation package includes salary, relocation fund, and fringe benefits. Reduced teaching load is offered to junior faculty for the first three years to allow them focus on building their research program. The entire package is competitive in Mainland China and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and the rank of the position. Special assistants will be provided to help foreign faculty adapt to life in Beijing. Research support is available through multiple sources such as the School, University, municipality, and national levels. Due to its strong alumni network and close relationship with business communities, the School also provides its faculty opportunities to collaborate with practitioners from the industry and to conduct field research or gain access to big data.

By 2018, Financial Times in its global ranking, had ranked RMBS’ Executive Education, MBA and Executive MBA programs as 13th, 39th, and 43rd respectively.
 
About the Department of General ManagementWith its 18 faculty members, the Department of General Management mostly focuses on Strategy, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, and Supply Chain Management. The faculty members have published in many flagship international journals such as Strategic Management Journal (2018), Journal of International Business Studies (2018), Journal of Business Ethics (2019), among others.
