[cid:c141ac76-eb14-4956-a8d7-7ad2292fe6a2]

We are seeking motivated undergraduate students who want to gain experience in various aspects of ag research and precision farming.

About the lab:

The Basso Lab<https://basso.psm.msu.edu/> specializes in the integration of precision agriculture technologies to improve the profitability of Michigan farmers. Our projects include a range of crops such as corn, soybean, wheat, potato, and switchgrass. We use remote sensing platforms like UAVs, planes, and satellites to collect imagery that informs us of spatial and temporal variability.

Job Description:

We are currently looking to hire two Undergraduate Research Assistants to help with lab and field research activities.

Field work includes travelling to field sites and collecting plant and soil samples. Lab work includes plant tissue processing and grinding, extracting soil inorganic nitrogen and data entry.

Undergraduate students are also encouraged to pursue their own research projects under the mentorship of a senior member of the lab.

Students are expected to work 10-15 hours a week, but schedule is flexible. Hourly rate starts at $12 per hr.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates are self-motivated, with a professional attitude. Students will work under direct supervision from a member of the Basso Lab. Previous lab or field experience is not required, although useful.
