Job Description
The Agroecology and Rural Economics Research Corps (ARERC or ‘RRC’) seeks to hire two researchers for a major two-year, community-led study of Midwest food systems. The positions have a October 15, 2019 start date.

The project is to be co-conducted with Regeneration Midwest and is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health and Climate Change Solutions program.

The study will entail a regional comparison of the effects of regenerative and conventional agricultural systems on climate change mitigation and population health.

The two researchers will be expected to conduct on-site visits across 12 U.S. Midwest counties, where they will conduct focus groups and interviews with county residents, compile local histographies, and engage in other types of research to be discussed upon hire. The researchers will be expected to analyze the resulting data and write up the results for both professional publication and the public.

Candidates are expected to have had field-based experience in studying agriculture, climate impact, and/or population health in a rural context. Midwest experience is preferred but not required.

The positions are part-time and compensation tied to a .5 full-time equivalent schedule. Graduate students, post-docs, and independent researchers are encouraged to apply.
