The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is one of the largest universities in Finland. The UEF is a multidisciplinary university, which offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects. The university has approximately 15,500 students and
some 2,500 members of staff, and the university’s campuses are located in Joensuu and Kuopio.
The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for the following position:
FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND BUSINESS STUDIES
Senior Researcher (International Business), fixed-term position, Business School, Kuopio Campus
The University of Eastern Finland offers education in economics and business administration at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels. One of the themes of research and teaching of the Business School at the Kuopio Campus is international
business and sales management.
The duties of the Senior Researcher involve research in the field of international business relating to firm internationalisation and born globals, and their business models. The Senior Researcher is expected to participate in demanding research
and development projects that are geared towards publishing in international top-level journals. The duties of the Senior Researcher also involve the preparation of research proposals.
The Senior Researcher will also be involved in teaching at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the field of international business relating to firm internationalisation, international networking, or management of international business. The duties
of the Senior Researcher also involve the supervision of Master’s theses. The language of instruction is English.
In accordance with UEF’s University Regulations (Section 31), persons to be appointed as Senior Researchers shall hold a suitable doctoral degree and have good teaching skills. The person to be appointed is expected to hold a doctoral degree
in the field of international business, international entrepreneurship, international marketing, international strategy or some other applicable field. Furthermore, the person to be appointed is expected to be a specialist in international business both in
research and teaching. The position also requires skills in quantitative research methods as well as evidence of publishing in leading/top-level international academic journals. Experience in working in academic research projects will be regarded as a merit.
The position is filled for a fixed term from 1 September 2019 to 28 February 2021 or as agreed. The position is filled for a fixed term due to temporary research and teaching arrangements.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on levels 6 - 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (€3 423,25–3 946,50 / month). In addition
to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 50 % of the job requirement component.
A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
