Dear Colleagues,

(Please excuse any cross postings about this session that you may receive.)

Do you have experiences to share making workplaces more inclusive for
geoscience professionals with disabilities? Are you a geoscience
professional with a disability who would like to share your experiences?

We are excited to invite you to share your success stories with your
peers at AGU 2019, Session 82989: *Strategies to promote accessibility and
inclusion for geoscientists with disabilities in geoscience research and
industry. * Please consider submitting an abstract describing your
experiences and current best practices of accessibility and inclusion at
your place of work. The session aims to provide platform to showcase such
practices, share resources available to students and professionals and ways
to overcome barriers still present in geoscience workforce.

*Session Title: . Strategies to promote accessibility and inclusion for
geoscientists with disabilities in geoscience research and industry*

*Section: Education*

Accommodating students with disabilities in undergraduate geoscience
programs is becoming more prevalent. However, what is less known is the
support being provided for graduate level researchers and geoscience
practitioners in the workforce. This session aims to provide a platform to
discuss current best practices of accessibility and inclusion at research
institutions and in the diverse geoscience work environments from the
laboratory to the field. Further, this session will share resources
available to students with disabilities pursuing upper level research and
careers in the geosciences and how to overcome the barriers still present
in the geoscience workforce. Presentations in this session will showcase a
variety of examples from both research and industry where access and
inclusion is placed as priority to enable students and practitioners with
disabilities to pursue graduate level training and pursue geoscience
careers. Abstracts from all centers of employment (academia, research,
industry and government) are welcome.
