[Apologies for cross-posting]

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to share details of the 16th International Conference on
Business Management (ICBM) 2019 to be held at Monash University, Australia.

ICBM 2019 is a partnership between Monash Business School, Monash
University, the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of
Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Institute of
Development Administration (SLIDA). The Conference will be held under the
theme of 'Transforming knowledge into action: Towards sustainable
development in emerging economies'. In our increasingly knowledge-rich
world where new ideas, new modes of thinking and new discoveries push the
boundaries of our understanding, having up-to-date knowledge and using it
effectively, is critical for sustainable development, especially for
emerging economies with their weak institutions and low resource base. The
Conference theme emphasizes transforming knowledge into action so that
novel projects are implemented, products and services are created, and
tangible outcomes achieved. To do so, countries must not only promote
reliable and useful knowledge creation and assimilation but also harness
and transform this knowledge effectively into policy and practices.

The Conference aims to showcase current research in management by bringing
together academics, practitioners, policy-makers and interest groups from
diverse regions and perspectives. In particular, the Conference addresses
some of the more pressing themes in developing countries, with a special
focus on emerging economies. In doing so, the Conference facilitates
knowledge sharing between countries of distinctive cultures and political
styles, and an opportunity to learn from each other in building our
capacities and cementing even closer ties in the region at sub-government
level.

Two Special Issues in high ranking academic journals have been secured for
the Conference. The journals are *Journal of Business Ethics *and *Public
Administration and Development. *Conference participants are invited to
submit their papers to these Special Issues.
