Dear Sir / Madam,

International Marketing Symposium -

Word of Web and Digital Marketing in the Chinese Context
25-26 July 2019

You are cordially invited to join an international marketing symposium on Word of Web and Digital Marketing in the Chinese Context to be held on 25-26 July 2019. This symposium is funded by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong (<http://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/rgc/collaborative/funded_projects/sf/iids1617_abstract.html#IIDS14B04>UGC/IIDS14/B03/18<https://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/rgc/funded_research/funding_results/sf/iids1819_abstract.html#IIDS14B03>) and hosted by the Department of Marketing, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

The symposium will bring together scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and the United States to exchange new insights into the characteristics and anomalies of the unique digital landscape in China, particularly in major Chinese electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) forums (e.g., Dianping.com), online shopping sites (e.g., Taobao), and social media platforms (e.g., WeChat). It will also feature well-known business practitioners sharing their success stories and best practices pertaining to eWOM and digital marketing.

To further scholarship and research on the symposium theme, we are joining forces with Journal of Global Marketing (JGM) to publish a special issue on the cultural implications of eWOM. You are most welcome to chat with the co-editors, Drs. Haksin Chan and Morgan Yang (both from The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong) at the symposium. There will also be plenty of opportunities for young scholars to interact with experienced scholars from Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Hunan University, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics, Shenzhen University, Hofstra University, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and Lingnan University. Our long-term goal is to foster continued collaboration between Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas scholars in this dynamic field that has vast implications for business performance and consumer welfare.

It is our hope that the symposium and the JGM special issue will benefit from your participation and contribution.
