The successful candidate will join a dynamic, transdisciplinary team engaged in research that contributes to the development of socially just and resilient food and water systems. The post holder will contribute to the collaborative leadership of the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience, with emphasis on advancing political ecology and people’s knowledge throughout the programmes of the Centre. They will develop transdisciplinary research initiatives that bridge the divide between differing traditions of research – such as that between positivist science and participatory action research – as well as between different knowledge systems. They will extend and deepen collaborations with international networks of researchers working on political ecology, people’s knowledge and global change; build transdisciplinary networks and programmes of research and knowledge exchange with a particular focus on areas relating to agroecology, diverse knowledge systems, and citizen engagement in policy making for resilient food and water systems. The Associate Professor will generate external research income and provide leadership in expanding the Centre’s participatory action research capacity, including teaching and training of postgraduate research students.

If you hold a PhD in a topic related to political ecology, gender, people’s knowledge, agroecology, water and food sovereignty or a related discipline, you are well suited for this position. Ideally, you have excellent communication and facilitation skills and strong experience with participatory research, including working with social movements, as well as a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals, books, and multimedia publications.
