Subject: Job Opening for FW Undergrads and Grads

Hello Jim,

I was a research assistant and graduate student with the FW department from 2011-2013. I am now leading a team of environmental professionals at a small environmental consulting firm in the Pittsburgh area. I have a job advertisement out now for an entry level environmental scientist that I thought I would share with you. The job description is below. The ideal candidate will be a recent undergrad or graduate student with course work and knowledge of wetland and upland plants, stream morphology/hydrology, understanding of wetland ecology, and some familiarity with federal environmental laws and regulations such as the Clean Water Act – Sections 404/401 and the Endangered Species Act – Sections 7/9. The job will require hiking steep terrain, working in inclement weather, and stream wading, so it would have to be someone that isn’t afraid of getting their boots dirty! The candidate will receive quite a bit of on the job training and will be exposed to a variety of field work, environmental permitting, interaction with regulators and land developers, and will work along side engineers, surveyors, and land professionals.

I have already received many applications but I would be remiss if I didn’t tap the excellent talent pool of MSU! If you are aware of any students that would be interested, please send me their resume and optional cover letter. I will start scheduling interviews next week. I am happy to field any questions from you.

Go Green!
-Ryan
