    Syracuse University, a research-intensive (R1) institution, is pleased to announce a position for a well-qualified Discipline-Based Education Researcher (DBER) in Biology and/or Chemistry. This position will support the planning, development, and implementation of the Syracuse University Inclusive Excellence CHANcE Project funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). 
    
    Qualified candidates will be those with significant training and content knowledge in Biology and/or Chemistry and who hold a Ph.D. in Science/STEM Education or a related field focused on undergraduate teaching and learning; or those who hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with significant training and experience in education research as well as course design and implementation of active-learning at the undergraduate level. The DBER Fellow will contribute to high-quality teaching and professional development of Biology and Chemistry faculty toward implementation of High Impact Practices (HIPs) including active learning pedagogies and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). In addition, the DBER Fellow will work closely with various partners in the University and other stakeholders to research critical issues and develop evidence-based recommendations for potential interventions. The portfolio of activities will include new and ongoing efforts to develop an inclusive environment in the Biology and Chemistry Departments for underrepresented minority and first-generation students. The DBER Fellow will hold appointments in the Biology and/or Chemistry Departments as well as the Department of Science Teaching and be mentored by senior faculty in Science Teaching and the Biology Education Research Group.
