Editor and Communications Specialist Job Opening at the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems

Summary of Job Posting: Under general direction of the Executive Director, this position serves as principal editor and communications director for the UCSC Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (the Center). Develops Center communications plan incorporating sustainable agriculture and food systems topics, including horticultural and agronomic techniques, and environmental and social issues as they relate to sustainable agriculture. This position manages a comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications, and serves as art director to develop and coordinate design, production and distribution of center communications.This position also serves as a source for and link to the UCSC press representatives and local media, and helps develop and coordinate public outreach activities, including community events. Requires strong writing and editing skills; experience in print and digital media, including website management; experience in dealing with press communications; knowledge of desktop publishing software. A knowledge of sustainable agriculture is preferred.
