PhD applications are invited by the Beedie School of Business and Jack
Austin Center for Asia-Pacific Business Studies to engage in research with a
focus on the Asia-Pacific region. Specific areas of research are open, but
must include some application to international business and the
Asia-Pacific. Examples include, but are not restricted to:

*	Global investment strategies and performance of emerging market
firms
*	Political dimensions of outward foreign investment
*	Innovation capabilities in emerging markets
*	Globalization of state-owned multinational enterprises
*	The internationalization of family-owned business groups
*	International political economy and public policy towards foreign
investment
*	Comparative corporate governance in an emerging market context

We anticipate accepting as many as four candidates, and each successful
candidate will receive a fully-funded offer. The candidates will work under
the supervision of faculty fellows of the Jack Austin Centre, including
Prof. Jing Li and Prof. Daniel Shapiro. The candidates will have a joint
appointment as junior fellows of the Jack Austin Centre for Asia-Pacific
Business Studies. As part of that appointment, students will be expected to
actively participate in attending and organizing Jack Austin Centre events,
and to actively advance the knowledge mobilization goals of the Centre.
Successful candidates will therefore have the opportunity to develop and
improve knowledge mobilization skills notably in terms of communicating
academic research to nonacademic audiences
