We are excited to announce the appointment of Ajai Gaur as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of World Business, effective January 1, 2019. As we shared earlier this year, we will be stepping down as Co- Editors-in-Chief at the end of this calendar year. Jonathan will be moving over to the Journal of Management Studies as Senior Associate Editor in January 2019 with the opportunity to transition to General Editor in January of 2020 and Dave will be focusing on his role as the elected officer of the executive committee of the Academy of Management HR Division, a 5-year commitment culminating in Chair of that Division.

The past 4 years at JWB have been marked by substantial progress and accomplishment. Together, our Senior Editorial Team, ERB members, authors and reviewers have worked to solidify JWB's stature as among the top international business journals and further position it as a leading business management journal more generally. Our submissions more than doubled over this period, from just over 300 in the full year of 2014 to 801 so far this year. Our impact factor increased dramatically (From 2.388 in 2015 to 3.993 in 2017; our 5-Year impact factor is now 5.019). We attained the #2 position in the new Google scholar ranking of international business journals, just behind JIBS. We worked to conceive, develop and execute the 50th anniversary issue, which will serve as an important legacy of the journal for years to come. We published a number of other high impact special issues and the overall quality of our regular articles has continued to improve. In short, the reputation and visibility of the journal has risen substantially due to our collective efforts.

Ajai has been an integral part of this journey. He was first appointed as Senior Editor in 2016 covering a broad portfolio of submissions in the areas of institutions, emerging markets, business groups, and other topics. He was often our "go to" Senior Editor on a range of assignments. In 2018, he was promoted to Deputy Editor of the journal, overseeing our first JWB paper development workshop, designing and executing our first annual review issue (in process), and helping to jump start our social media strategy. In addition to his work with JWB, Ajai is a renowned IB scholar who has made major contributions to research related to the institutional influences on internationalization behavior such as mode, timing, location of foreign entry, governance, and performance. In addition, he has a long track record of service to the profession: He has been President of the Asia Academy of Management, Consulting Editor at the Journal of International Business Studies, and Departmental Editor, Asia Pacific Journal of Management. He is the recipient of numerous grants, awards, and other recognition, including serving as a Dunning Fellows at the University of Reading. Most importantly, he has been a wonderful colleague and partner to us in our efforts to move JWB forward. We can't think of a better individual to continue JWB's positive trajectory. Please join us in congratulating Ajai on this appointment.

Best regards,

Jonathan and Dave
