Subject: Great opportunity to join the Natural Team at State Parks
Greetings friends and colleagues

I currently have a position advertised for a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist), and am looking for an aquatic resources biologist. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing a new aquatic resources management program for the Natural Resources Division (NRD) of California State Parks. The incumbent will identify system -wide priorities, develop protocols and guidelines for the management of aquatic resources, and will provide technical expertise and assistance to District and Division natural resources staff. This is an exceptional opportunity for those interested in system-wide program and policy development, and working with others in leadership roles to chart the next advancements in State Parks natural resource management

The job posting is available here:<>

The duty statement is attached. Application packages are due on November 8, 2018.

The position is based in Sacramento but your responsibilities will require you to get out to parks statewide.

Hey, you can’t beat the State Parks mission To provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation. Its feel good work for sure!

Since joining the Natural Resources Division (NRD) of State Parks in February 2018 I’ve been thoroughly impressed by the dedication of, and amazing work done by natural resources staff at this agency. This position is the third position I’ve been able to fill in the Technical Services group at NRD as I’ve hired both a botanist and a wildlife biologist. The technical team, and NRD is growing and it’s a great time to join the Natural Resources Division at State Parks.

For those of you not currently in the State system, you will need to take the Senior Environmental Scientist Exam and rank in the top three ranks to be eligible. Here is the link to the online exam.<>

I’m looking forward to hearing from you and anyone you know who might be interested in this opportunity. Please forward this email to appropriate contacts of yours.
