Intermediate wheatgrass and Cover Crop Fall Field Day
All invited to see, ask and learn.
Lunch provided

Cows will be on the pasture while you taste some intermediate wheatgrass cookie! Come and join us!!

The annual KBS Cover Crop Field day offers a chance to see the crops in the field and talk to the researchers about their research.

NOTE:  For those interested in the Intermediate wheatgrass!  We will be taking the cows to pasture to see how they like the intermediate wheatgrass to graze. Kernza cookies will be served. See how the crop is valuable to 1. Feed cows. 2. Provide great flour 3. Holds soil in place

The field day will be from 10-12 with lunch following, and is free to attend. Optional tours to other fields / plots will be available after lunch.

  *   Inter-seeded Cover Crops in Grain Corn – Karen Renner / Sasha Kravchenko / Aaron Brooker
  *   Cereal Rye and Hairy Vetch cover crops prior to organic vegetable crops – Dan Brainard
  *   Intermediate wheatgrass (Kernza) as a grain and forage crop – Vicki Morrone
  *   Red clover frost seeded into wheat  - Dean Baas / Brook Wilke
  *   Cover crop species demonstration plot – Dean Baas
  *   Winter cereal forages following corn silage  - Brook Wilke
  *   Winter Barley trials including double crop system with winter barley and soybeans – Manni Singh / Dean Baas / Brook Wilke
  *   MSU cover crop variety trial – Kim Cassida
  *   Walking tour of annual forage crops being grown to complement a rotational grazing system based on perennial forages, and field scale cover crop
