Apprenticeships are offered in several different focus areas; apprentices apply to the specific apprenticeship that best fits their skills, interests, and goals. The 2019 Sustainable Agriculture Research Apprenticeships are being offered at CEFS’ Small Farm Unit and Farming Systems Research Unit. Appointments are for a period of two to six months and are split between Goldsboro (90%) and Raleigh (10%). During that time, Apprentices will have the opportunity to: * Immerse oneself in agricultural production and field research, spending up to 40 hours a week as an integral part of a team * Work with a highly diverse team of educators from North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services * Interact with other Apprentices at various research units and sites * Participate in field trips to local farms Requirements: * High school diploma * Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds * Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather (cold, heat, humidity, rain, pollen) * Ability to work on repetitive tasks * Ability to work well in a team as well as individually * Good communication and organizational skills Application Process: Applicants are required to apply through the North Carolina State University Jobs Website.
