College of Business and Public Administration

Eastern Washington University

Tenure-track Associate Professor in Management

The College of Business and Public Administration at Eastern Washington University is currently inviting applications for an Associate Professor position in the Department of Management, to begin in September 2019.

Eastern Washington University is a regional, comprehensive institution where excellent teaching must be supplemented with an appropriate research program. The primary teaching area for this position will be management-related courses in the undergraduate and MBA programs. Participation in ongoing research program and service to the university, college, and department are also required. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.

This is a tenure-track, 9-months per year position. The candidate hired into this position may be considered for appointment as Chair of the department, following the college's processes for evaluation and appointment of a Chair including department vote. If appointed as Chair, the appointment would comprise 50% of the candidate's workload; additionally, Chair appointments also include a summer appointment.

All department faculty are expected to teach at both locations (campuses are a 20 minute drive from each other). The candidate's main office will be located on Eastern's Spokane Riverpoint Campus, adjacent to downtown Spokane in the University District; a shared office will be located on the Cheney campus. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position will be expected to teach online classes.

Eastern Washington University is a regional, comprehensive public university with enrollment of over 12,000 students and campuses in Cheney and Spokane, Washington. The college is located on Eastern's Riverpoint Campus in Spokane, and maintains an administrative presence at the main EWU campus in Cheney, a residential suburb 17 miles outside of Spokane. The business program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International).

Spokane is home to three universities and to health related, medical and other selective programs from the two state doctoral universities. Spokane offers a high-quality network of public and private K-12 schools, an extensive community college system, and two major healthcare/hospital systems. Living costs are below the national average and Washington State does not levy an income tax. Spokane is located on a desert high plateau and enjoys over 220 days of sunshine per year, with average summer time temperatures in the upper 70's and 80's, fewer than 4 feet of snow per year and low humidity. It is the gateway to the Inland Northwest, an hour drive from Lake Coeur d'Alene and a day drive from Glacier Park. Abundant outdoor recreational opportunities are available year-round: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking and more. The area offers a wholesome life-style for young families as well as for energetic empty-nesters.

EWU is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty, staff, students and academic program offerings to strengthening sensitivity to diversity throughout the institution. We are an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
