Program Focus:
This year the Community Engagement Scholar Program will be engaging with partners in Lansing and Detroit Michigan for 2018-2019 academic year. The
program is currently seeking scholars for the Detroit cohort. Scholars will work alongside their community partner to develop innovative discourse and strategic imperatives for community outreach and engagement,
and support organizational capacity building. An ideal applicant for this position will have an interest in and/or experience working in economic and community development, a willingness to engage in
guided reflections around their work, commitment throughout the 2018 - 2019 academic year, and full availability from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.
Program Overview:
The MSU Community Engagement Scholars Program is an initiative offered by the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (CSLCE). CSLCE
advances community engaged learning at Michigan State University and prepares students for lifelong civic and social responsibility in an increasingly diverse and complex global society.
Scholars selected for this year’s cohort will work collaboratively with community partners, local organizations, and their fellow cohort members. Scholars will be matched with community
partners for a year-long project. Scope of each project will vary by partner.
