Many, many thanks to all who contributed to this (see below). Please read this email carefully as a big chunk of work is now completed, and we want to merge some of this activity with the normal oversight provided by the Faculty Advisory
Committee. Many of you are on both committees and it is impossible to completely segregate the two activities.
The Curriculum Review Committee has completed the following:
- The Learning Objectives white paper (attached). The Faculty Advisory Committee for Entrepreneurship and Innovation can “ratify” it at the meeting on August 15. I will circulate it
broadly following that meeting. Comments are welcome until August 10.
- A companion document, Course Evaluation Form, which will be used to ensure that those courses which become electives in the E&I Minor are adhering to the learning objectives of the
program. A copy of this document is also attached. I will send another email to a subset of you shortly with action items surrounding courses in your college.
The remaining steps in the Curriculum Review process are to:
- Evaluate all courses against the Course Evaluation Form (separate email will be coming shortly). This activity must get completed by the third week of August.
- Create thematic “roadmaps” to provide clarity to students of the sequence of courses they might take based on their interests (we will undertake this once the course review process
is complete). We can complete this on a more relaxed schedule.
For those of you on the Faculty Advisory Committee, our meeting is from
1:30pm to 3:00pm on August 15 in Room N336 in the business school. I will send a separate email to you with an agenda next week.

A hearty thanks to Sam Carter for putting together this Course Review Form. We’ll use this to evaluate all electives in the E&I Minor. We can decide on Monday whether a paper form is sufficient or to turn this into an electronic form. I’ve
also posted it to our shared Google Drive Folder. I’ve re-attached the latest version of the white paper. IMHO, much of the groundwork is now done. The next step will to be evaluate courses (current and prospective) against this instrument.
Although we’re continuing to work on this, I’ve also attached a spreadsheet that shows enrollment in the electives over the past three semesters (H/T to Stephanie).

A subset of the curriculum task force met last week and we accomplished the following:

Thanks to input from Constantinos Coursaris, we added more information to the white paper about the managerial traits of successful entrepreneurs. V2.3 is attached and I hope it is nearly final.
- Sam Carter is putting together an online form, which will serve as our instrument to document that courses which are electives in the E&I Minor satisfy our learning outcomes. Faculty
can use the online tool to provide 1-3 bullet points in these two areas (for each elective):
- Course content that addresses at least one of the domains of the Entrepreneurial Mindset (see graphic in the document)

Experiential learning exercises or practicums.

Our next full meeting is July 30 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm in Eppley 412. At that meeting we’ll ratify the white paper and then begin the process of evaluating those courses which are currently electives in the E&I Minor—and decide which courses to recommend
be added.

Update on the curriculum review:
- Attached is version 2.2 of the Learning Objectives White Paper. I have incorporated everyone’s comments, and you can see the changes with revision markings. PLEASE REVIEW this as we’re
close to finalizing it.
- On Wednesday, July 18 at 1pm, Sam Carter is coordinating a meeting of a few people to review the Entrepreneurial Mindset Index (EMI) as it relates to current courses that are in the
E&I Minor. If you are on Sam’s list, you know who you are, but we always welcome additional participation.
- Our next full meeting is July 30 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm in Eppley 412. The Learning Objectives and EMI documents will be completed by then and we will ratify them at the meeting.
At that point we’ll move onto the critical step of (re)evaluating courses against the new criteria and possibly making changes to the list of electives in the E&I Minor. To aid in your thinking, please see the attached spreadsheet (H/T to Stephanie Brewer)
that shows the courses in the Minor now, their enrollment, and the participation from students in the E&I Minor.

As a follow-up to my email from last Friday:
- Please be sure to send any comments about the document (attached again) by
July 11.
- Prof. Forrest (Sam) Carter has agreed to spearhead the task of creating a checklist/tool against which we can evaluate courses for inclusion as electives in the E&I Minor. He said
in our meeting that he and the instructors who teach the largest enrollment courses in the Minor today (Ken Szymusiak for BUS 190, Danielle DeVoss and Amy Haimerl for CAS/AL 114, himself and Constantinos Coursaris for MI301) would probably be able to quickly
and simply create a set of criteria based on their own experiences. Please look for a follow-up from Sam. I’d like to have this done by
July 20 so we can move onto evaluating the courses against this instrument and ensure that we have this all completed by mid-August.

We had a great discussion at yesterday’s meeting. Here is a summary of action items.
- We now have a solid (near-final) draft of a Learning Objectives document. It is attached. PLEASE REVIEW and send comments by Wednesday, July 11. Once I incorporate comments/suggestions,
we will deem the document to have been ratified by this committee. Please use revision markings, and send the document back to me directly. I will manage version control and will accommodate as many changes as possible. You can ignore the version I sent yesterday.

and I’d like it to be done by July 20.

The subcommittee that is working on the Learning Objectives (Ken, Danielle, Aubrey and myself) met today and we expect to have our document finalized by the end of next week. We’ll circulate it after that, and then hopefully take comments
or adopt it at this meeting that Leigh Anne is scheduling.
The next step after that will be to determine how to characterize the expectations of courses that become electives in the Minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. We agreed that tightening up the criteria and making it more objective
would be beneficial, and that’s what I hope to tackle in this meeting.
