The Department of Geography at Indiana University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Critical Food Studies as part of a series of university-level strategic hires focused on food systems. We seek candidates who take a critical political economy approach to food and have demonstrated the ability to engage with community groups and policy makers. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in security, sovereignty, and justice within the U.S. food system, and investigate the ways that contemporary American food systems intersect with international political economies and political ecologies of food production, trade, and consumption. We encourage applications from candidates with training in qualitative and quantitative analysis. Candidates are expected to have or be able to develop an excellent research program, with the ability to attract external funding. Teaching duties include both undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants should have or expect to receive their doctoral degree by August 1, 2019 in Geography or related field. The position will remain open until filled, but priority will be given to those who apply with full applications by October 15, 2018.
