The AGU deadline is rapidly approaching (August 1st at 11:59pm!), so we want to be sure you're aware of two division-sponsored sessions on education and outreach. ED011 is a traditional oral format; ED050 will be a panel presentation. If you have colleagues attending AGU, these are also good opportunities to learn about creative broader impacts.
This session will showcase the variety of partnerships that have been developed between researchers in academia and different outreach and education venues. Due to the increasing emphasis on the Broader Impacts, specifically Education and Outreach, section of grants, this session aims to explore how these relationships were established and maintained, the types of programing that have been developed, and any results on the effectiveness and impacts of the partnership. Abstracts from both informal and formal educational settings are encouraged.
Effective geoscience education research and STEM outreach models require partnerships and collaborative efforts between geoscience education researchers, teaching practitioners, scientists, engineers, and/or science communicators. This session seeks to report the characteristics and lessons learned from a variety of collaborative models from grant funded projects that contain education research and/or outreach components across a diverse set of communities (K-12, 2YC, 4YC, informal institution and community groups, individual citizens). The broader goal of this session is to provide the community with a forum to explore evidence-based practices for strengthening the scale and impact of future education and outreach projects, as well as provide a venue for individuals to identify future collaborators.
