Laboratory Technician Senior, Grade Level - 40, Position # 51003736

Job Summary:
The Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Laboratory Technician Senior to assist with research studying the ecological and economic costs and benefits of agricultural diversification to farmers and society. The diversification of agriculture has many ecological advantages for controlling pests and pathogens, increasing pollination, managing weeds, and improving soils. However, many diversification practices are laden with trade-offs between economic, environmental, and social costs. Our research aims to uncover the sustainability of these practices.

The lab technician will be responsible for helping design and carry out agroecological research to study the importance of agricultural diversification in Kentucky, California, and Latin America.

The technician will also serve as the de facto lab manager and be responsible for inventory management, ordering supplies, and working with the principal investigator to ensure the lab is compliant with University and Federal regulations.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work towards an advanced degree in Entomology while serving as the technician, if desired.
