The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership seeks a Short-Term Field Technician to work as part of the Partnership's Science Team.  This position supports the Estuary Partnership’s ecosystem monitoring and habitat restoration action effectiveness monitoring programs.  This position is an entry level position that offers professional field experience to persons pursuing a career in the natural resource conservation field and primarily collects monitoring data.  We place a priority on applications from students or recent graduates who come from or have experience with diverse populations and underserved communities, including communities of color and low-income communities.  The successful candidate will thrive in a team environment, have strong communication skills, and be comfortable working in a field setting.  Knowledge of lower Columbia River issues is a plus. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         Enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors’ degree or a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, in natural resource or watershed management, hydrology, water quality, marine sciences, biology, habitat conservation, or related field.

·         Experience adhering to established data collection protocols.

·         Comfort working in and around water; navigating difficult terrain, including mud flats and tall grass; and collecting monitoring data in a variety of conditions, ranging from cold and wet to hot and humid weather.

·         Ability to accurately enter data.

·         Experience with Microsoft Office products.

·         Familiarity with GPS and database tools.

·         Strong communication skills.

Duration & Time Commitment:  June 2018 – August 2018
Hours:  40 hours per week
Salary Range:  $18 – $20/hour

Supervisor:   Senior Research Scientist
