    Description:
    The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking one field technician to assist with surveying and trapping pygmy rabbits in 3 regions across Nevada and southeastern Oregon. The technician will be working with a graduate student and 2 other technicians but may be required to conduct surveys independently on occasion. 
    Trapping will occur around sunrise and sunset, weather permitting, while burrow surveys, and setting out traps will occur during the day. Technician must be able to work varied hours, must be flexible with schedule changes, and exhibit a positive attitude. 
    Technician will be required to handle pygmy rabbits, cottontails, and jackrabbits, PIT tag, take morphometric measurements, take genetic samples, and collect fleas and ticks. Finally, the technician must be observant and must be able to identify pygmy rabbits, their sign and distinguish their burrows from other burrowing animals or pick up these skills quickly. 
    Camping will be required for much of the spring/summer. Project will run through the end of July with possible extension. 
    
    Qualifications:
    Applicants must have a driver’s license and ideally their own car for days off.
    Technician will ideally (1) have small mammal trapping experience (any rabbit experience would be even better!); (2) be able to walk multiple miles, stay on feet for much of the day, and be strong enough to carry multiple bags of traps and burlap at once; (3) the ability to learn quickly; (4) have the ability to deal with temperature extremes; (5) be observant!
