*Position Opening for Exchange (Food Hub) Manager at Allen Neighborhood Center* Lansing, MI - Established in 1999, Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) is a non-profit community development agency serving the northeast quadrant of the Capital City and beyond. Signature projects of ANC include the Allen Farmers Market (lively, year-round, SNAP-friendly), Incubator Kitchens (promoting food entrepreneurism), the Hunter Park GardenHouse (a hub for urban gardening/farming education), the Exchange (a food hub linking growers and food producers to commercial and institutional buyers) and the Veggie Box program (a multi-farm CSA providing worksite delivery). *We are seeking a full-time Exchange Manager who will:* - Coordinate the Veggie Box program, handling logistics, marketing, sales, and promotion. - Provide aggregation and distribution services to increase sales of regionally grown food and food products to commercial and institutional buyers, e.g., restaurants, hospitals and schools. - Develop and maintain relationships with farmers providing product to the Exchange and Veggie Box. - Manage the online website (allenmarketplace.localorbit.com), which is associated with the Exchange. - Develop newsletters & other marketing materials for buyers and producers. - Support the growth of the local value-added industry by linking growers with the Incubator Kitchens to create value-added products, with the option of distribution through the Exchange. - Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and interns involved in the Exchange. - Evaluate and write reports showcasing program effectiveness. *Minimum Qualifications* - A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player. - Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail as they manage multiple tasks/projects. - Experience in managing and creating relationships with multiple partners, patrons, and neighbors. - Knowledge of food safety and safe handling practices. - Entrepreneurial energy, high level of initiative, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, and teamwork. - Excellent verbal, written, communication, and customer service skills. - Skills in web management and other computer and online programs. - Ability to develop, implement, nurture, and evaluate programs. - Passion for strengthening the local food system, ANC programs, and for the ANC mission. - A bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study or relevant professional experience. - Flexible availability required (some nights and weekends). - Experience in food programs and Michigan produce seasonality. - Valid Michigan driver’s license. - Management experience in business or non-profit organization preferred. *Compensation* Full-time position (40 hours/week) to begin in April.
