Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has a position open for a post doctoral fellow in the Center for STEM Research, Education, and Outreach. The fellow will be a critical part of a collaborative research team studying the design and development of an out-of-school-time program for minority girls focused on computational thinking. The position will encompass all aspects of research, including designing and implementing protocols, recruiting and communicating with subjects, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, writing reports for research agencies and research articles for peer reviewed publications, and presenting the research results at conferences. The fellow will also direct the work of a graduate research assistant.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in STEM education, experience with mixed/qualitative research methods and/or design and development, and experience interacting with youth in informal settings. The ideal candidate will: 

·      be able to work independently and meet a variety of deadlines,

·      be flexible in adapting to changes in work flow, 

·      have a strong ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with adult collaborators and youth program participants,

·      be able to follow-through on multiple project tasks with attention to detail, and

·      thrive in a collaborative work environment.

 The position is a full-time 12-month appointment with possibility of renewal.

The SIUE STEM Center is a dynamic, team-oriented university research center established in 2010. We work with faculty members across the university and external partners to promote and support STEM education in the southwestern Illinois region and conduct research on teaching and learning that informs practice. 

Beautifully situated on 2,660 acres of rolling land and woods, SIUE is located 30 minutes from St. Louis, affording many opportunities for collaboration with other universities, industry, and community-based organizations.
