Call for paper: Int'l Schumpeter Society Conference & the Schumpeter Prize, Seoul, Korea.


The biennial conference of the International Schumpeter Society (ISS) will be held in 2018 in Seoul, Korea.  Under the theme of innovation, catch-up, and sustainable development, it will be held on campus of Seoul National University for the three days of July 2-4, 2018; It will start from the morning of July 2 Monday to end by the late afternoon of July 4 with the Schumpeter Prize dinner on July 3. Submissions will be open to February 28, 2018. Please disseminate this information to your network.

Some of the names for speakers include B. Lundvall, J. Sachs, M. Egidi, Justin Lin, H. Odagiri, F. Malerba, David Sainsbury (Chancellor of Cambridge Univ.), Xiaobo Wu, and K. Lee (Presidential address), etc.  We encourage researchers to suggest proposals for special or parallel sessions (including book launching) on diverse topics of contemporary interest and to coordinate paper submissions for these sessions. We will provide some financial support for the selected graduate students (or young scholars), in particular those from developing countries, upon arrival in Seoul. The exact amount will be decided later, depending upon ex post budget situations. Those in need of such support can write to the conference secretaries.

One of the important events of the ISS conference is awarding the Schumpeter Prize and also a prize for the Best Paper by the Young Scholars. TheSchumpeter Prize is awarded every two years in recognition of a recent scholarly contribution related to Schumpeter's work. It carries a cash award of about 10,000 EURO. "INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: CHUMPETERIAN LEGACIES FROM ASIAN AND GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES" has been designated by the managing board of the society as the topic for the 2018 competition. Entries must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2018. Works submitted must be either unpublished or published subsequent to June 1, 2016. Submissions may be of article or book length.
