Members serve April 3, 2018 - August 31, 2018, for 20-25 hours/week. They receive a living stipend of $3,200, loan forbearance for eligible loans, professional development training, and an education award. If you're interested in learning about local food systems, gaining professional experience while growing personally, APPLY TODAY - the application deadline is February 23 by 5:00pm.
GP is also currently seeking an intern for the upcoming 2018 growing season. The intern will work directly with GP staff on a variety of tasks and duties. The duration of the internship is mid-May to mid-August (start/end dates negotiable) and between 10-20 hours of work each week will be expected. South Lansing Urban Garden Gardening Series
At last month’s workshop the topic was dreaming about your 2018 gardens. Different ways to create and use a garden journal were reviewed, as well as adding new and/or improving on new garden space. Also discussed was the need to budget for those garden dreams.
On Saturday, February 24, dreams will start to be put into action. We will be discussing the difference between cold and warm crops and their growing requirements, the concept of square foot vegetable gardens, crop rotation, seed starting techniques, and protecting early crops from late frost with easy to use tunnels.
The best part of these workshops is the open discussions and sharing of experiences. Whether you are a seasoned gardener looking for new tips and techniques, or a first time gardener who doesn’t know the difference between a plant and a weed, these workshops are for you! Don’t worry if you missed the first session, you will not feel lost or behind.

Resource Center Special Opening for Seed Pickup
To prepare for the upcoming seed-starting season, we are opening the Resource Center (RC) for one evening to allow those that want to pick up pepper, tomato and eggplant seeds the opportunity to do so. The Garden Project will be starting their own transplants the last two weeks of March to be ready for the frost free date in mid to late May (hopefully). If you have a warm sunny place to grow your own, we would love to give you the seeds you need! Hope to see you there.
