Greetings! I’m sending this to you as someone who works with undergraduate students who may be interested in a career in food systems. Through the MSU Extension Internship Program, five Community Food Systems sites will host paid undergraduate internships in Summer 2018. Below is a message that you can send out to your students who may be interested. Thanks in advance for your support in this outreach!

Michigan State University Extension will offer paid 2018 summer internship opportunities for high achieving MSU undergraduates. The intent of this program is to expose students to Extension career opportunities, to develop student’s career-based portfolio skills and to support the work of Extension Educators and Specialists. This year, five internships will support the work of Community Food Systems Educators and Specialists in various locations throughout the state. The MSUE Community Food Systems team supports the development of community food systems in Michigan by providing resources and programs to develop local food policy councils, farm-to-institutional purchasing, food hubs and farmers markets. Internships include opportunities to develop youth agriculture programming, build capacity of local food policy councils, gain experience with organic production methods, increase local food access as a tool for mitigating health issues, build nutrition education programming, and work in food justice.
