Dear colleagues,
I’m pleased to invite you to hear Dr. Carl Folke, founder and director of
science of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and director of the Beijer
Institute of Ecological Economics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences,
give the Rachel Carson Distinguished Lecture “Social-ecological systems,
resilience thinking and sustainability: Reconnecting development to the
biosphere " at 3:30 pm Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the MSU Kellogg Center
Lincoln Room. Dr. Folke is also a foreign member of the U.S. National
Academy of Sciences and will receive an Honorary Degree of Doctor of
Science from MSU in December.
We want to be sure as many people as possible – including students and the
general public – are able to take advantage of this opportunity. It would
be terrific if you could share this with classes. If you know groups are
attending, we would appreciate knowing (please email Sue Nichols --
[log in to unmask]) as there will be a reception after the lecture.
