Call for Chapters
Proposals Submission Deadline: December 15, 2017
Full Chapters Due: March 15, 2018
Submission Date: July 15, 2018

Introduction
Rural areas are a key sector in every nation’s economy and their rapid development and modernization have gained the attention of policy makers and governments all over the world. This is because a sizeable majority of the population lives therein therefore the future of the country depends largely on it. Rural dwellers are less vocal, characterized by a culture of poverty, as most people live barely above subsistence level. Rural areas in developing countries are usually deprived of the basic needs of life such as housing, medical care, postal communication, education, transport etc.

Rural development would continue to be a frontline issue in global development agenda, for both traditional, well known reasons and the emerging ones. Whatever view is held on the future of rural development, it is still difficult to deny the immortal contribution of the rural environment and its people to global agriculture, food security and the perpetuation of the human race. In most developing countries, rural communities are home to majority of the citizens and still produce the bulk of the food and fibre.

Objective
The world today has not reached, and perhaps may never reach a stage whereby rural development programs become absolutely irrelevant. Rural development, because of its multi-dimensionality, transcends sheer availability of infrastructure, technology and industrialization. It encompasses all needs of rural inhabitants, including the enviro-cultural and psycho-social needs. Despite the changing contexts, the necessity for greater and deliberate efforts targeting development of rural areas and their inhabitants has sustainable growing. Researchers and Practitioners around the world shall explore how global trends, state policies and grassroots movements affect contemporary rural areas in both developed and developing countries.
