the Faculty of Economics and Management, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano invites applications for a Research Fellow on a fixed-term (3 years) contract (RTD)
position comparable to a temporary Assistant Professor position in International Management with a special focus on SMEs -
starting date around March/April 2018.
Our university is a young and continuously growing university in one of the most attractive regions in Europe. Based on its research productivity and output, the Faculty of Economics and Management (https://www.unibz.it/en/faculties/economics-management/
) ranks among the top universities in Italy, offering an inspiring environment and a performance-oriented research atmosphere. It currently consists of more than fifty Professors at different ranks originating from eight countries, hence our working language
is English, although the University fosters trilingualism - Italian German, English especially in its study programs and consequently offers excellent language courses.
The position is intended to offer a career stepping stone for Post Docs who want to strengthen their research profile and consequently their publication record. As an academic career in most cases includes lecturing,
a teaching load of 60 hours/year should be seen as a plus and not as a necessary evil.
Research topics and research questions to be addressed will primarily focus on internationalization of SMEs but will target more generally international strategic alliances, esp. IJVs; internationalization processes
of firms; knowledge transfer from/to HQs and other aspects of internationalization. And of course, there should be ample opportunities for engaged and committed early stage scholars to continue working on or to start off with research which is related to the
main research of the research cluster ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ and of its members.
The ideal candidate holds a graduate degree in Management or Economics and a PhD in Economics and/or Management and has preferably already published in renowned peer-reviewed academic journals and/or presented on international
conferences. S/he possesses comprehensive knowledge in at least two of the following areas: (1) International Management, (2) SME, (3) Competitive strategy, (4) Organization, (5) Leadership and decision making, (6) Organizational behavior as well as in empirical
research methods (quantitative and qualitative). Very good proficiency in English is a must, good proficiency in either/or German and Italian a plus, although not mandatory. Ideally, the candidate has teaching experience.
