Subject Users of AT&T’s analog Centrex telephone service must now dial 8 + 7-digits to reach on-campus numbers
Please be advised that users of AT&T’s analog Centrex telephone service must now dial 8 + 7-digits to reach other on-campus numbers they previously reached via 5-digit dialing.
Centrex users will need to dial the full 7-digit number to reach on-campus numbers that they previously were able to reach with 5 digits.
• Phone Numbers with a first digit of 2 will need to be dialed as 8-432-xxxx. For example, 2-1234 will need to be dialed as 8-432-1234
• Phone Numbers with a first digit of 3 will need to be dialed as 8-353-xxxx. For example, 3-1234 will need to be dialed as 8-353-1234
• Phone Numbers with a first digit of 4 will need to be dialed as 8-884-xxxx. For example, 4-1234 will need to be dialed as 8-884-1234
• Phone Numbers with a first digit of 5 will need to be dialed as 8-353-xxxx. For example, 5-1234 will need to be dialed as 8-355-1234
Users affected by this will hear the message “You have reached a non-working number at Michigan State University” when they dial 5-digit numbers.
Users on the Avaya Campus PBX are not affected by this change and can continue to dial 5-digit to all MSU Campus phone numbers
