The John H. Dunning Visiting Fellowship

We are pleased to announce the  John H. Dunning visiting fellows  for the 2017-18 academic year, hosted by the John H. Dunning Centre for International Business at the Henley Business School, University of Reading.   We received 15 applications for the program for this year, from a variety of applicants across the world.  A committee consisting of Mark Casson, James Walker, Davide Castellani and Rajneesh Narula reviewed the applications.

The Fellows for 2017 -18 are:

Xufei Ma, Associate Professor  of the Department of Management, and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Xufei received his PhD in business policy and strategy from NUS Business School, National University of Singapore. His research interests lie in corporate and international strategies of multinational and entrepreneurial firms in and from emerging economies. He has published his research in leading management and IB journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Journal, and Journal of Management, among others. He is currently serving as a Guest Editor for Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, and Journal of International Business Studies.

Vittoria G. Scalera, Assistant Professor of International Management at the University of Amsterdam Business School. She received her Ph.D. from the Politecnico di Milano School of Management. She has been a visiting scholar at the Fox School of Business, Temple University (2013-2014) and at the Henley Business School, University of Reading (2017). Her research mainly lies at the intersection between international business and innovation management, where she focuses on innovation strategies in multinational firms, international knowledge sourcing, global innovation networks, and emerging countries’ technological catch-up. She is also interested in the international strategy and performance of government-owned institutions. Her studies appear or are forthcoming in leading academic journals, including Journal of Product Innovation Management, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of International Management, Small Business Economics and Industrial Marketing Management, among others.

The visiting fellowship programme is aimed at creating opportunities for researchers at the early-to-mid stages of their career to visit and collaborate with academics at the Centre, and to utilise resources associated with the John H. Dunning Library.  Dunning Fellows are expected to be actively engaged in the field of international business (broadly defined), and with an inclination towards multi-disciplinary and theory-driven research, in the tradition of John Dunning.  Visiting fellows are expected to give at least one seminar, and to spend between 2 and 4 weeks in residence over an academic year (between September and June).
