Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you of the newly released sixth issue of The
IPA Observer.
The publication looks at investment facilitation and how investment promotion
agencies (IPAs) in different countries have adopted and developed various
tools and programmes to better serve investors.
Case studies are from Kenya (the implementation of UNCTAD’s eRegulations
programme), Jamaica (the preparation and packaging of potential investment
projects) and Germany (the creation of technology partnerships).
The note provides several takeaways for IPAs:
· Investment promotion and facilitation
go hand in hand,
· Investment in the SDGs requires enhanced
facilitation,
· Partnerships in investment facilitation
dramatically improve a location’s offer.
There is a wide range of policy options and measures available to IPAs
for expanding and improving their service offer to investors. UNCTAD's
Global Action Menu for Investment Facilitation provides a guiding framework
to support a new generation of investment facilitation strategies that
can mobilize investment in sustainable development.
Best regards,
James Zhan
