Department of Management Tenure Track Faculty Position Announcement

George Washington University

 

The George Washington University School of Business invites preliminary applications for a tenure track professor at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without tenure in the field of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, or Management. The position is to begin Fall 2018. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: The position requires a demonstrated ability to conduct high quality scholarly research and perform well in the classroom at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in two of the following areas: organizational behavior, tourism/hospitality/sport management, human resources, and entrepreneurship. Service expectations are commensurate with rank. Preference will be given to experienced junior faculty who have completed their Ph.D. at least 2-3 years ago.

 

Minimum Qualifications: All applicants must have completed the requirements for a Ph.D. by the date of appointment. Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for conducting significant scholarly research and publishing in top ranked journals. Additionally, they must possess an excellent record of teaching.

 

Tenure and rank are commensurate with the qualifications. Junior faculty teach 3-courses/year and receive two months of summer support guaranteed until tenure. Salary and benefits are competitive, including tuition remission for family members.

 

George Washington School of Business Management Department: The management department in the GW School of Business (GWSB) has 16 full-time faculty who teach and do research in the areas of organizational behavior, human resources, entrepreneurship, and tourism/hospitality/sport management. The department provides a highly collegial environment with strong research support, including the opportunity to work with both management and strategy doctoral students as part of the joint management-strategy doctoral program. Management faculty research has appeared in such outlets as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Organizational Research Methods, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology. Faculty editorial board memberships include Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Small Business Management, Organizational Research Methods, and Personnel Psychology.

 

The George Washington University: The main campus of the George Washington University is located in Washington, DC, only blocks away from the White House, State Department, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank. Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia are home to government agencies, international organizations, small and multinational businesses that provide opportunities for data collection and other types of partnerships. The university has outstanding library services and research support. This area also offers unprecedented access to recreation, culture, restaurants, and schools as well as easy access to three international airports.
