The Investment Development Path: Evidence from Poland and Other Countries of the Visegrád Group
Marcin Kuzel
<http://www.tandfonline.com/author/Kuzel%2C+Marcin>ABSTRACT
This article discusses Polish foreign direct investment against that of the other Central and Eastern European countries belonging to the so-called Visegrád Group. The article is a continuation of this author's previous work, now revised and taking into account a longer perspective of the analysis, theoretical recommendations modifying and widening the scope of the Investment Development Path model, the results of analytical studies published by other authors as well as the results of two research projects conducted by a Nicolaus Copernicus University team between 2006-2009 and 2010-2013. This article's fundamental aim is to define the current stage of Poland's economic development according to the Investment Development Path trajectory. The author concludes that Poland is in its third stage of development according to the Investment Development Path model, although still in an early phase of that stage.

Effect of Business Group Affiliation on Firm Internationalization: The Case of India Under Reforms
Amit Baran Chakrabarti<http://www.tandfonline.com/author/Chakrabarti%2C+Amit+Baran> & Arindam Mondal
<http://www.tandfonline.com/author/Mondal%2C+Arindam>ABSTRACT
The authors investigate how diversified business groups influence the structural reform-firm strategy relations given its effect on strategic choice and its implementation in a large emerging economy: India. By integrating business group, industrial organization, and international business literature, the authors predict considerable differences in the exporting behavior of business group-affiliated firms on the basis of their market competitiveness and governance dynamics. The authors test their predictions empirically with longitudinal data of 6,119 Indian firms over a 21-year period starting from 1991-1992 to 2011-2012 and find support for most of the hypotheses. These findings suggest that knowledge of the heterogeneity within business groups are essential for understanding the response of business group affiliates in light of the progression of reform process in India. This study thus contributes to a more complete conceptual understanding of the strategic responses of promarket reforms of business group affiliates in emerging economies.

The Role of Local Context in Headquarters-Subsidiaries Relationships: A Global Analysis of the Literature
Akiebe Humphrey Ahworegba
<http://www.tandfonline.com/author/Ahworegba%2C+Akiebe+Humphrey>ABSTRACT
This study reviews the literature on multinational corporations' headquarters-subsidiaries relationships, focusing on the role of the local context and its influence on subsidiaries in developed and emerging markets or countries. The author searched the literature using several terms directly related to these issues. The findings demonstrate that subsidiaries can only operate successfully in foreign locations by adjusting their policies to fit into the local environment because there are multiple contexts. Multinational corporations manage the local context by integrating their home behavior and that of the subsidiaries' operating environments. A framework for identifying and managing different local contexts is proposed.
