12th ISGEP Workshop

International Business meets International Trade:

Applied Research on Firms in the World Economy

Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK

28-29 September 2017

The John H. Dunning Centre for International Business and Centre for Institutions and Economic History at the University of Reading (UK) are pleased announce a call for papers for the 12th meeting of the International Study Group on Exports and Productivity (ISGEP).

ISGEP is a platform aimed at stimulating knowledge exchange and joint research on firm behaviour in international markets using micro-data. Past conferences were held in Nottingham (2007, 2008), Dublin (2009), Valencia (2009), Nice (2010), Lüneburg (2011), Stockholm (20122014), Trento (2013), Birmingham (2015) and Pescara (2016).

This workshop will bring together research on international firms both from the perspective of international business (IB) and applied international trade (IT) scholars. Despite their common roots, IT and IB have developed into two distinct and somewhat disconnected fields of study. The recognition of the role of firm heterogeneity and the extensive use of firm-level data create the conditions for a convergence in theoretical and empirical approaches between the two disciplines.

Beata Javorcik (University of Oxford) and Nigel Driffield (Warwick Business School), two distinguished scholars who are uniquely placed to bridge these two communities, will be invited speakers.

A special issue of Multinational Business Review will host a selection of papers presented at the workshop.

The workshop will start on Thursday 28 September 2017 at 9 am and end on Friday 29 September 2017 at 1 pm.

Full papers or extended abstract can be submitted via email at [log in to unmask]  by 9 June 2017

Further information will be posted at http://hly.ac/isgep2017.
