WAIB Emerging Scholar Award
Purpose: The WAIB Emerging Scholar Award goes to a female AIB junior scholar for recognition of her high-quality research in any international business discipline. Preference may be given to high-quality research on women and gender in international business, but this is absolutely not a requirement.
Criteria: To qualify as a junior scholar, the nominee must be either a current doctoral student or have received her Ph.D. within 5 years of the year of the award (e.g. the degree must have been received any time in 2011 or later for the 2016 award). The awardee must be a member of WAIB. Neither paper acceptance nor physical presence at the upcoming AIB Annual Meeting is required.
Process: To be considered, the female junior scholar must be nominated by another WAIB member. Nominations must include a 1-page single-spaced statement of why the nominee deserves to win the award, including the nominee's affiliation, email address, and a list of her publications and scholarly work. Submissions must be sent to the President of WAIB, Amanda Bullough, via [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by April 20th. A committee will evaluate nominations and may contact finalists for their curriculum vitae and a sample research paper. The winner and runners up will be announced at the upcoming AIB Annual Meeting in June and through all WAIB electronic communications: WAIB-L listserv, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and on the new website when it is ready. Winners will also receive a paper certificate suitable for framing (in person at the annual meeting, or via email).
