Dear IB colleagues, I hope to draw your attention to an interesting conference: Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences HICSS-51: January 3-6, 2018, Hilton Waikoloa Village. It is organized at a perfect location (Hawaii) and features several sessions that I believe are of interest to IB scholars, including the below Minitrack which I am involved in. Hoping to see as many as possible of you there! Best regards, Mika Gabrielsson Professor of International Business University of Eastern Finland ([log in to unmask]) "Knowledge Society, Culture, and Knowledge Systems"- Minitrack, HICS-51 The purpose of our minitrack is to explore the impact and role of culture on managing knowledge and designing and implementing knowledge systems within groups and organizations. As noted by Castelfranchi and Paglieri (2007) a knowledge society generates, processes, shares, and makes available to all members knowledge that may be used to improve the current state. Our minitrack covers broad issues related to culture (sub-cultures and national cultures) and knowledge management and systems. In today's dynamic and complex environment where data, big data and data analytics are so central extracting and managing germane and pertinent knowledge has never been more essential. To do this effectively one must also consider systems and cultures. These are all central aspects of the proposed mini track. We are open to all methodological and theoretical approaches and welcome papers as well as research-in-progress papers from researchers and practitioners from various disciplines. Potential topics in our minitrack may include, but are not limited to: * Transferring and sharing of cultural/indigenous knowledge and knowledge systems * Sustainability of cultural/indigenous knowledge and knowledge societies * Impact of cultural differences in managing knowledge and designing knowledge systems * Issues and challenges of managing knowledge in culturally diverse teams and organizations * Implementing knowledge systems in global organization * Managing knowledge in a global value chain * Challenges and opportunities of global/international knowledge systems * Knowledge systems in cross-border mergers & acquisitions * Sharing and using customer knowledge collected from different markets and regions * Global Account Management and knowledge systems * Case studies focusing on knowledge systems in culturally diverse organizations * Practitioner papers on knowledge sharing and utilization across cultures Castelfranchi C., Paglieri F (2007).
