Registration is Open for Organic Intensives 2017!

The one-day Organic Intensives on March 9th is our flagship educational event for the spring of 2017.  We are offering three excellent programs with something for all MOFFA members, farmers and gardeners.

The Organic Pest Management for Diversified Farms session will be presented by four MSU research and Extension specialists and members of the project's farmers advisory committee.  They will address the basics of organic weed, insect and disease management strategies as well as recent developments with an emphasis on cucurbits.

The Organic Field Crop Marketing session will provide at least 10 presenters that will address the status of national and Michigan organic grain and bean markets, as well as three vegetable buyers, to help farmers make key decisions important to farm profitability and resiliency.

The Successful Organic Growing session will be presented by five experienced MOFFA members, and is intended for gardeners and farmers.  The focus is on raising nutrient-dense produce through advanced organic soil management, garden planning, transplant production, season extension, and more.  In-depth discussion on successful community and school gardens and resilience in the face of a changing climate will round out the day.

This is a great opportunity to invest in your future.  Please connect to the detailed descriptions linked above and select the one best for you.  Registration cost includes the day long program, printed support materials, lunch, parking and a great chance to network with fellow farmers and gardeners from across Michigan.  The $75 registration for MOFFA members prior to February 15 is meant to provide a guaranteed quick return on investment.  Non-member registration is $85 through February 15.  Register now to hold your place—class size is limited.  A limited number of targeted scholarships are available for Agriculture Professionals and Educators.  Partial scholarship support is also available for anyone for whom cost is a barrier.  To inquire about a scholarship, email us at [log in to unmask].
