3 Summer Power of We Consortium AmeriCorps positions are being sought for [cid:[log in to unmask]] the Greater Lansing Food Bank's Garden Project and Lansing Roots Programs. Service periods are March 20 - August 25, 2017, and each includes a $3,200 stipend.

The Resource Center Leader will perform a variety of duties to expand and enrich Garden Project<> services, especially to underserved populations, through resource distribution, promoting a more sustainable food system and improving access to healthy foods. Service will include leading volunteers at the Garden Project Resource Center, providing onsite community educational [cid:[log in to unmask]] opportunities, offering gardening advice and aiding in plant, seed, and tool distribution. The RCL will organize, schedule and lead garden volunteers at the GP Demonstration Garden and local community gardens, providing general garden maintenance and site improvements. The Community Garden Liaison will serve the network of Garden Project<> community gardens, with a concentrated focus at five high-need gardens. Goals for the CGL include fostering on-site community leadership, leading volunteers, assisting with translation and resource allocation and providing basic gardening maintenance, all under the overarching goal of creating more sustainable and inclusive growing spaces. This member will continue to build outreach and education capacity through modeling direct service for community gardeners and volunteers. [cid:[log in to unmask]]The Lansing Roots Farm and Garden Development Assistant will assist in the production and distribution of fresh produce for donation, assist in community and infrastructure development at the 5-acre refugee-specific community garden on site, and coordinate all volunteer activities at Lansing Roots<>. This position requires daily work at the Lansing Roots Farm site in Mason, is very physical in nature, and will be performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Work may also be based at our Lansing Administrative Office. Goals of this position include increasing the amount of fresh produce available to low-income individuals, improving site infrastructure, fostering community among gardeners and farmers, and developing a strong network of volunteers.
