Registration is still open for the 2017 Market Manager Certificate Program (MMCP), hosted by Michigan Farmers Markets Association (MIFMA) for its seventh year. This voluntary program takes place starting February 10 -  March 7 and is designed to encourage farmers market managers to pursue leadership skills and professional development in topics essential to market management. What's Included and Where is it Being Held?

The full program includes three in-person sessions and seven webinars, totaling more than 35 hours of instruction. Michigan will host two sites in Novi and Gaylord, with locations also in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Indianapolis, Indiana. The in-person sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 10-11, 2017, with webinars taking place throughout the month of February and into early March. The program will conclude in Michigan with final presentations at the Michigan Farmers Market Conference on Tuesday, March 7.

 

What's the Benefit?

By participating in the program, attendees have the opportunity to network with other managers around the state while focusing on topics such as business planning, managing market growth, market governance, policy and enforcement, communication strategies, financial management and fundraising, and much more. Individuals who complete the full program receive a certificate acknowledging that they are a professionally trained farmers market managers. Since the program began in 2011, the first of its kind in the nation, 185 market managers from across the Midwest have earned this certification.

 
What's the Cost?

Registration for the full program is $300 for members of MIFMA and the Hoosier and Illinois Farmers Market Associations or $600 for non-members. The cost for individual webinar registration is $20 for members of MIFMA, the Hoosier and Illinois Farmers Market Associations and Farmers Market Coalition members or $50 for non-members.
