Hello All,

We have rescheduled this Saturday's session due to the impending snowstorm. (Even though it's Michigan, nobody wants to come out in an ice storm!) This session will now be held Monday, December 19 at 5:00 pm. An additional session in January has also been added. More info below. Thank you!

Lansing Roots, a program of the Greater Lansing Food Bank, is looking for farmers to participate in our incubator farm program. If you are an interested farmer or know of someone who may be looking to develop their own farm business, please attend one of our upcoming farmer recruitment sessions. Feel free to share this with others and/or contact me directly for more details.

Please RSVP if you plan on attending.

Lansing Roots is a program of the Greater Lansing Food Bank's Garden Project designed to help beginning farmers from the greater Lansing area develop successful market gardening and farming enterprises through an incubator farm setting; reducing the barriers faced by most prospective farmers. While we place an emphasis on refugee, immigrant, minority, low-income, and women farmers; all are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will have participated in a farmer training program, apprentice or internship, multiple years of community gardening, or will have an agricultural background from their country of origin.

We are designed to host new farm businesses for 2-5 years, giving participants the opportunity to scale up their production to support their new businesses. Lansing Roots is also home to a Demonstration Farm to showcase various crops, methods, and materials to participant farmers. The Marketing Collective, including sales through a Multi-Grower CSA, Wholesale Accounts, and Retail Outlets, allows participant farmers to earn real income from the very beginning; while working towards successful business management.
