Two Visiting Faculty Positions

The Department of Geology and Environmental Science at James Madison 
University seeks applications for two 1-year full-time Visiting 
Assistant Professor/Visiting Instructor positions, to provide 
instruction for lecture and laboratory courses in the physical and Earth 
sciences. Teaching duties will include introductory and general 
education classes, and may include upper-level undergraduate courses 
based upon each candidate’s relevant experience.We are especially 
interested in candidates with successful teaching experience with 
courses such as physical geology, oceanography, meteorology, and Earth 
system science.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or be ABD in a geoscience or 
related field at the time of employment.Successful candidates will: (1) 
demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate 
students and (2) provide evidence of their ability to work within a 
collegial scholarly environment. We are very interested in candidates 
who have a demonstrated commitment towards building an equitable and 
diverse scholarly environment.

The department has 15 full-time faculty and 2 part-time lecturers, 2 
staff members, and approximately 120 undergraduate majors.Degree options 
include a BS in Geology, a BA in Earth Science, and minors in Geology 
and in Geophysics.Our curriculum is recognized for its strong foundation 
in core geoscience disciplines, field study, and undergraduate
