Good Morning Eship Faculty, Do you know students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Minor<https://entrepreneurship.msu.edu/academics/courses/>? To fulfill the requirements of the minor students will need to complete two E&I Experiences Options<https://entrepreneurship.msu.edu/experiences/>. We are hosting the perfect opportunity this Fall to accomplish one of them! Startup Weekend is coming up, November 4-6, 2016. The weekend is designed to provide students with an entrepreneurial experience that will give them skills and abilities they cannot learn in the classroom. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. We believe that students who complete Startup Weekend will have earned an E&I Experience Option that will benefit them greatly. We encourage you to make your students aware of this opportunity. As always, it is your (the instructor’s) decision whether to permit them to have an E&I Experience, but it is designed so that you don’t have to do anything except approve it. We will be taking attendance throughout the weekend to verify that the students met the requirements.
