Subject: "Wear your alma mater to work" Fridays!

Good morning MCAN Partners!

As you know, Governor Snyder recently declared<http://www.michigan.gov/snyder/0,4668,7-277-57577_59874_75291-394673--,00.html> October as Michigan College Month!

The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) has coordinated with hundreds of schools statewide to kick off Michigan College Month. MCAN will support high schools hosting concurrent college application and financial aid campaigns throughout the month.

There are two fun ways we'd love you and your organization to consider participating -
1. Encourage your staff to participate in "Wear your alma mater to work" on one of the three remaining Fridays in October (10/14, 10/21, 10/28). It's a fun way to build a college-going culture within your department and really reflect our vision of helping students become college and career ready.
2. Share College Month on social media -- Take a picture in your alma mater gear and use the hashtag #WhyApply or #IApplied. You’re also welcome to use one of the attached print-outs<https://michigancollegeaccessnetwork.box.com/s/sq9za0lgcoqncn1as7paoz6e462hthn6> to tell Michigan students why they should apply to college and complete the FAFSA.

MCAN, partnering with the governor’s office, recently expanded this effort from a week to an entire month. Over 350 high schools across the state are joining MCAN in celebrating College Month.

During 2015 College Application Week, more than 48,000 college applications were submitted to colleges and universities throughout the state. Let’s build momentum this year. MCAN’s ultimate goal is to increase Michigan’s postsecondary educational attainment rate to 60 percent by the year 2025. This year, we want every graduating senior in Michigan to submit at least one college application, apply for at least one scholarship and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by the end of October.

PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE BROADLY THROUGHOUT YOUR NETWORK!

Together, we can make a difference for Michigan’s students and the future of our state.

Best,

The Michigan College Access Network team
