Academic position in Strategic Management

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the KU Leuven has a vacancy for a full-time academic position in the field of Strategic Management. We look for motivated candidates with an excellent or promising track record in research and demonstrable educational competences.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Research

We are looking for a dynamic and internationally oriented scientist with research interests that tie into existing expertise in the department of Managerial Economics, Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and in particular of its group Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SIE), on the Brussels campus of the FEB. We particularly welcome expertise in strategic management and the following related domains: international business,  entrepreneurship and innovation.

You gradually develop your own research program of international recognition. You are actively involved in attracting research funding and carrying out research projects. Furthermore, you help to develop international collaborations in research. You strive for excellence in research and contribute to the reputation of the FEB.  You are also committed to the transfer of research results to the government and the business world. Over time, you develop a network of business contacts that provide added value to your teaching and/or research.

 

Education

You provide excellent teaching within the aforementioned fields.  Your teaching assignment will involve courses in the programs Handelswetenschappen/Business Administration, Handelsingenieur/Business Engineering and the Master of International Business Economics & Management (MIBEB/MIBEM). Your precise teaching assignment will be determined in line with your profile.

You also contribute to the design and implementation of the programs on the Campus Brussels of the FEB, and the optimization and further development of education in the domains of strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship.

You also supervise master theses on the Brussels campus.

You develop your teaching in line with the vision of the KU Leuven, which focuses on research-based and practice-oriented education and which is characterized by active student participation. You make use of the opportunities for the development of educational skills offered by faculty and the university.

 

YOUR PROFILE

You have a PhD in business economics or business administration, or will obtain it by October 1, 2017.

You can show an excellent track record in research in the field or evidence of excellent research potential. The quality of your research is shown in your PhD, publications in international journals and/or international research experience.  If you have obtained your PhD recently, it is important to provide academic references.  

You have experience in academic teaching and you have demonstrable didactic skills.  You also have the necessary communicative and organizational skills and you are a team player.

Proficiency in English is required.

The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to enable you to take part in administrative meetings. Before teaching courses in Dutch or English, you will be given the opportunity to learn Dutch respectively English to the required standard.

This full-time job requires a clear commitment to the study programs on the Brussels campus of the FEB. The research in the domain of strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship is done in close collaboration with colleagues on the Leuven and Antwerp campuses of the FEB.  

Candidates who have just obtained their PhD are appointed in a tenure track and will be evaluated after 5 years. Candidates with more experience can be appointed on a level in line with their experience.
